Import a file
1
Open a list
Go to Audience → Lists and open the list the contacts should join. Create the list first if you need a new one.
2
Choose Import Contacts
Choose Import Contacts. Use CSV Import for a file, or Paste contacts for comma-separated rows with a header row.
3
Check the columns
Xem matches common column names to contact fields. Check each match and change any that are wrong.
4
Review and import
Xem shows how many rows it will import and how many it will leave out, with the reason for each. Import when the numbers look right.
Which rows are left out?
Xem leaves out a row when:- the email address is missing or not valid;
- a status column says the person is unsubscribed, inactive, cancelled, bounced, cleaned, complained, invalid, pending, unconfirmed or archived;
- an
email_disabledorunsubscribedcolumn is true, or anunsubscribed_atcolumn has a date; - a
subscribed_to_emailscolumn is false; - the same address already appeared earlier in the file.
Which fields are imported?
Xem maps these fields, matching common names such asEmail Address, First Name or Postal Code:
If a file has a single name column and no first-name column, Xem splits it into first and last name.
Tags and custom fields are not imported today. If you rely on tags for segments, rebuild them in Xem after the import.
